Taka Ishii Gallery and Galerie Gisela Capitain will exhibit works by Mario García Torres, Wade Guyton, and Daisuke Yokota. Reconstructing traditional techniques and interpretations of a particular medium, they attempt an output in their own unique way.
Wade Guyton was born in 1972 in Hammond, Indiana. Guyton combines traditional visual media – such as primed canvas – with digital printing processes so that deliberate degradations lead to aesthetically astonishing results.
Mario García Torres was born in 1975 in Monclova, Mexico. In his work, García Torres explores the potential of a diverse range of media including photography, film and performance in order for it to serve as a tool in his own re-examination of concerns related to history and conceptual art practice in which there is always a time or location displacement. In so doing, he derives a new idea from history and reality.
Daisuke Yokota was born in 1983 in Saitama Prefecture. By misusing photographic materials such as film and photographic paper, Yokota considers memory and recording, images and materials, and strives to present new presentations about ‘photographs’.

Since its opening in 1994, Taka Ishii Gallery has continued to maintain and develop an exhibition program based upon the dual goals of introducing international contemporary artists within Japan and serving as an international platform for the presentation of the work of Japanese emerging artists and contemporary masters.
While the gallery aesthetic is rooted in the photographic, the program is contemporary and represented artists work in a variety of media. A yearly exhibition program of eight solo and/or group exhibitions is supplemented by the publication of catalogs and artists’ books, with an emphasis on the documentation and promotion of the work of emerging Japanese artists.
In addition to the primary exhibition space, Taka Ishii Gallery Photography / Film focuses on historical exhibitions of pre and postwar Japanese photography and related film work.
Since 2018, the gallery also operates SHOP Taka Ishii Gallery in Hong Kong to create an experimental space.

Galerie Gisela Capitain was founded in 1986 and is focused on Contemporary Art from the 1980s to the present. Over the course of 34 years, the gallery developed an ongoing vibrant program with international artists from various disciplines. Günther Förg, Charline von Heyl, Zoe Leonard, Albert Oehlen, Stephen Prina, Christopher Wool and Martin Kippenberger belong to the first generation of artists who have shaped the gallery's program since its founding. In the 2000s Wade Guyton and Seth Price, emerging artists at the time, joined the program, among others. Adding emerging as well as established artists, including Barbara Bloom, Richard Smith or Monika Sosnowska, the gallery continually evolved its program.
In recent years, Galerie Gisela Capitain has started to work with Japanese artist Hiroki Tsukuda and Hong Kong based multimedia and sound artist Samson Young, followed by Peruvian artist Ximena Garrido-Lecca, Italian artist Isabella Ducrot and British painter Jadé Fadojutimi. Only this year the gallery started to represent American sculptor Ragen Moss and Mexico-City based artist Yann Gerstberger.
Galerie Gisela Capitain is the representative of the Estate of Martin Kippenberger since 1997.
